Sip for Kids' Sake on Apr. 22!

Sip for Kids' Sake: It's one of the easiest (and most enjoyable) benefit events you'll attend all year -- all you do is show up and drink! Please invite your friends, family, coworkers and other fun-loving locals to join you in socializing for a good cause on Thursday, Apr. 22 from 5:30-7:30pm at Siips Wine Bar on Charlottesville's Downtown Mall. Admission is free; dress is casual.

Siips is donating a portion of the proceeds from all sales that night to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Blue Ridge (www.bbbsocbr.org). Raffle tickets will also be available throughout the evening for a free wine seminar for two; 100% of ticket proceeds will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Big Brothers Big Sisters recently launched a campaign to recruit "100 Mentors for 100 Kids in 2010," and all income from this fundraiser will directly support that effort. Hope to see you there!

Special note: Big Brothers Big Sisters Executive Director (and Charlottesville Mayor) Dave Norris will be Siips' special guest "Celebrity Bartender" for the evening. Mustache 4 Kids

We are now entering the final week of the "Mustaches 4 Kids" competition and as you can faintly see in the photo below, my wooly red caterpillar of a mustache is coming along. We "growers" are supposed to be soliciting donations in honor of our 'staches, donations that go to charities that help kids -- in my case, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Blue Ridge. My New Job

As of Nov. 1, I went to full-time in my new job as Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Blue Ridge. Right now we're in rebuilding mode but expect to hear a lot more from us very soon. Thanks to Chris Graham of Augusta Free Press for the positive write-up last week:
