Public Hearing on Water Supply

Next Monday, Sept. 20, there will be a public hearing at our City Council meeting (7pm in Council chambers, City Hall) on how best to proceed with regard to our long-term water supply plan. It's your last best chance to put in your 2 cents before Council decides what path to take, so please join us if you feel so inclined. On a related note, this morning I heard a fascinating presentation by the largest dredging equipment manufacturer in the U.S. on the cost and feasibility of dredging the South Fork Rivanna Reservoir in "small bites" over a period of years, to remove the sediment that's settled there over the past few decades and keep ahead of future siltation. Turns out doing so is quite feasible and would likely save many millions of dollars vs. dredging the reservoir at all once.
