Vieux Farka Toure, son of the late, legendary Ali Farka Toure, is a rising international star. The father, Ali, was named as one of the top 100 best guitarists of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. The son, Vieux, was named “top newcomer” at BBC’s 2008 world music awards. Sometimes called the “African Hendrix,” Vieux’s performances embody strains of the Malian desert sound that have circled the world, sparked the blues and rock and jazz, and returned home more rooted than ever. Folk Roots Magazine called LĂșnasa an "Irish music dream team." The layered tapestry that underpins their sound is marked by driving, occasionally jazz-inflected rhythms, impeccable individual musicianship, and an unswerving faith in the music's ability to navigate new territory with the same confidence as it revisits the old. Connoisseurs of the genre count LĂșnasa among the top two or three Irish acts in the world today. Hear Lunasa on YouTube (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=r6BO4lSL0xM)
